Testicular cancer is a malignant tumor in the testicle. It generally presents with a small and growing bump on the testicle and should be taken very seriously as it is a very rapidly growing type of cancer. There are several kinds of testicular cancer. The treatment of a testicular mass is the removal of the testicle and the spermatic cord and may also include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or a much larger operation to remove lymph nodes in the abdomen where the cancer could potentially spread. This larger operation is called a retroperitoneal lymph node dissection and may be performed in an open or laparoscopic fashion on a train to urologist in the field of oncologic urology.
